As the UK experiences one of its hottest and driest summers on record, there is much talk about utilising water carefully; using what we have as effectively as possible. But what’s that got to do with getting the sound right in your hospitality venue?
Let’s think about watering your plants. If you hold a single hose at one end of a garden and try to water everything from this one source, you would end up turning the water flow up to maximum to create a high pressure jet to try to reach everything. This inevitably fails; washing away and damaging plants nearest to the water jet, whilst hardly reaching those that are growing furthest away. Too much or too little, everything would perish.
This is exactly the same with speaker distribution in your hospitality space. If you have just one or too few speakers in a room, these have to be run really hard to try to fill the space with sound. The guests closest to the speaker experience a sound that’s too loud and risk becoming overwhelmed, whereas those furthest away may not hear anything at all!
Going back to the hosepipe analogy, if the gardener ran a multi head hose, sprinkler or water mist system, the garden would get sufficient water spread evenly throughout, the environment would be more consistent, and all the plants would flourish.
