Outline

Apache Capital’s Present Made, Eddington development in North West Cambridge is part of the University of Cambridge’s vision to create a sustainable neighbourhood close to the city centre.

Designed and built to be a neighbourhood – not just a place to live – the University of Cambridge’s planners have worked with local groups to design and deliver the elements needed for a community to thrive. These include a school, nursery, shops, market square, community centre, sports facilities and green open spaces for people to enjoy.

CGA has worked with Present Made, Apache Capital’s rental platform, which created the development’s new purpose-built exemplar rental homes, to deliver the AV for the shared amenity spaces in the heart of this new community, placing the customer experience front and centre. On the ground floor, there is a lobby, reception area and gym. Moving to the first floor, there is a co-working lounge, screening room, yoga/wellness studio, private dining room and residents’ lounge & play space. There are two pavilion areas available for private hire, all of which have AV designed and installed by CGA.

Challenges

As the Present Made, Eddington development forms part of the creation of an entire neighbourhood, the work CGA undertook contributed to a much larger development. This brought with it both logistical and scheduling challenges, due to the sheer scale of the project, which required careful planning and flexibility to ensure that key deadlines could be met holistically.

Technical

CGA are specialists in Hospitality AV, and this is how this project was approached: designing and installing AV throughout the communal spaces, which delivered aspirational results using a system which is easy to use and delivers control and consistency for everyone.

CGA installed a multi-zonal system with local touch panel controls, Bluetooth & analogue inputs and centralised background music. As with all CGA systems, it is supported with a remote capability to ensure that the AV system has minimal downtime and minor changes and tweaks can be done without travel and environmental damage, supporting the project’s vision.
