Outline
Cameron House Hotel blends traditional Scottish influences with sumptuous contemporary decor, set within 400 acres of beautiful Scottish countryside on the world-famous banks of Loch Lomond.
Following a substantial restoration to the historical 17th century Baronial mansion, the hotel is the prestigious home to a collection of 140 bedrooms including 24 suites and is enriched by an award-winning spa with rooftop infinity pool, an 18-hole championship golf course, a range of restaurants and bars, elegant event and function spaces, a new state-of-the-art Leisure Club and a 234-berth marina.
CGA has worked with Cameron House Hotel to design and install an integrated sound system throughout the reception areas, bars, restaurants, leisure facilities and events spaces, delivering modern quality AV, sympathetically blended with the historic interiors.
Challenges
The main challenge was to seamlessly integrate the AV throughout the 17th century building, ensuring a superior sound system whilst blending with any historic and decorative finishes. There are varying ceiling heights and voids throughout, so ceiling speakers needed to be chosen to reflect these changing requirements. Some areas of the house also have listed ceilings, which required renovation following fire damage. These ornate details needed to be preserved whilst integrating the new sound system within.
Technical
CGA installed a zonal sound system throughout the hotel which delivers background music through carefully placed ceiling speakers across all reception and communal areas.
Areas which can be used for private hire such as the three bars, lounge, restaurants and the library, also have the additional facility of input plates to allow the use of microphones and music sources controlled through locally installed touch panels.
In addition to these areas, Cameron House hotel has three main events spaces;
The Morning Room is designed to be used for meetings and private dining events and CGA installed ceiling speakers and an 86” wall mounted display that can be used for presentations or be linked to the hotel TV system. In addition, the room is fitted with a video camera, wireless screen sharing functionality, wireless table microphones, charging pads and local Ipad control to allow full control from anywhere in the room, enabling the smooth running of video conferencing and hybrid meetings.
The Loch Fyne Suite & The Loch Katrine Suite are much larger spaces designed to host dinners, presentations and both in person as well as Hybrid events. CGA designed and installed an AV system to facilitate these occasions. The sound system is in zones to allow spaces to work independently or collectively and is linked to the main hotel music player. Each suite has the additional flexibility of local input plates, microphone sockets and a line level input for mixing desks. There are handheld radio microphones to enable speeches and presentations in each of the rooms and also lectern microphones that connect by the screen in each space which enables events where you have a lectern or many different speakers or presenters. A large screen and video projector are installed in each suite which retract into the ceilings when not in use and ceiling mounted video cameras facilitate hybrid meetings. There are local in-room touch screens to control the sound and AV within each event space and external digital signs linked to the hotel booking system which identifies the in room events.
The Cinema
In addition to the events space a cinema has been installed at Cameron House. Although the cinema system has been installed by a specialist provider, CGA have installed a lectern microphone socket at the front of this room so that the space can be used for presentations, along with two ceiling mounted cameras to allow any presentation to be sent out as a hybrid presentation and a main control interface to control the cinema sound, video and lights within the room.
Response
Andy Roger Resort Director commented “We are delighted with how the sound system enhances the overall ambience of Cameron House. The AV systems CGA have designed and installed in the event spaces have enabled us to be at the cutting edge of modern requirements, without visually impacting on our beautifully designed interiors.”
