Case Study:
Meeting Room Suite at Strand Palace
Outline
CGA Integration has been working with Strand Palace since 2019 when they designed and installed the sound system for the lobby area, restaurants and bars throughout the newly refurbished hotel.
Working with L+R Project Director Chris Ingles and the onsite IT team, headed by Raghu Dandu, CGA has returned to Strand Palace to refurbish the suite of meeting rooms in the basement area.
As CGA has already designed and installed the AV system throughout the ground floor of Strand Palace, this new system builds on the existing infrastructure and extends the CGA platform.
Challenges
Technical
The suite of meeting rooms comprises of four large distinct areas and an additional five smaller syndicate rooms; Covent Garden, the largest meeting area, which can be subdivided into two spaces, Trafalgar and Leicester Square, two communal areas outside of the meeting rooms, Westminster and the Thames boardroom.
Each space had AV installed to complement its size and purpose, with all spaces being integrated into the existing infrastructure designed and installed by CGA. This ensures that the rooms can operate independently or as a coherent space, depending on what is required.
A new video projection system comprising of three screens and projectors with lifts was installed in Covent Garden, along with ceiling speakers to support both background music & presentations, and both handheld & lectern radio mics for maximum flexibility. The new AV system supports audio input via cable and Bluetooth, video distribution over VoIP and BYOD wireless presentation. CGA installed two touch panel controls, each integrated to operate both the AV and lighting for ease of operation.
Digital Signage was installed by CGA in Trafalgar and Leicester Square, one sign outside each room, and general wayfinding signage to aid guest navigation. The signage is managed via a WebGui with different access levels and passwords for key staff. Locally, the sound, light and video for the communal areas is coordinated by one touch panel control, which also includes the operation of the lights.
In Westminster, CGA installed a 98” wall-mounted screen and full room video conferencing, with both ceiling microphones and ceiling speakers to support both background music & presentations and radio mics. The new system supports BYOD wireless presentation and enables both hybrid video conferencing and traditional video conferencing, with two cameras allowing full visibility and participation by delegates both inside and outside of the room. CGA installed a touch panel control, again to operate both the AV and the lighting from one place for ease of operation.
CGA created a boardroom-style video conference facility in Thames with a 75” screen, ceiling microphones and ceiling speakers with BYOD support. The AV and lighting are again controlled via one-touch panel control.
The five 5 smaller syndicate rooms, (Soho, Aldwych, Waterloo Bridge, Big Ben & West End), were all fitted out with 75” display scenes, a video conference bar and ceiling speakers. Each is BYOD compatible and has one lighting and AV control panel and a digital sign outside.
Response
Raghu Dandu Director of Information Technology commented; “CGA seamlessly integrated the new suite of meeting rooms into their existing AV platform, giving us the flexibility and technology we need to support how meetings are evolving, all remotely supported by CGA.”
