Outline
The launch of Templeton Garden marks the Miiro brand’s debut in the UK and their fourth opening in Europe. The property is situated in a historic area of London a short distance from Earl’s Court, and features a unique garden which forms the green heart of the hotel, where contemporary design seamlessly blends with timeless English elegance.
On the ground floor the hotel offers a comfortable area that welcomes you as you enter the property, a modern British restaurant Pippin’s, which features an open kitchen and indoor-outdoor seating, a cocktail bar Sprout, and Pip’s, a cosy, vintage inspired café with its own street entrance designed to welcome residents and guests alike.
In the basement there is a meeting room, the Miiro brand signature ‘Refresh Room’, which is available both before check-in and after check-out and a state-of-the-art Gym.
CGA Integration has worked with partner DKS Electrical to design and install an audio system throughout these public areas across the ground floor and basement including lifts, bathrooms and outside into the terrace and garden.
Challenges
To maintain brand consistency and guest experience, the CGA installed sound system has a dedicated scheduler for each public area. This ensures that during normal trading, each space is set to the correct audio level for a specific time of day, without the need for staff intervention. These schedulers also ensure the disabling and enabling of the external speakers, so noise levels can be maintained at the correct level throughout the day, and ensure that music is not turned on too early or left on too late, minimising noise issues for the hotel’s neighbours.
As well as levels of noise, it was important to ensure that the outside space remained as natural looking as possible. Externally CGA ensured that sound is delivered by IP-rated speakers which are mounted either under the terrace furniture or hidden within the garden greenery. This makes a diffused, surrounding sound which complements the setting.
Technical
CGA installed a wall-mounted touch panel control in each space, allowing immediate control of the audio system and surrounding speakers. Many areas have wall-mounted DJ and or Bluetooth input plates, to allow for a wide range of portable music devices to be connected quickly and easily for private events. To coordinate these, there is a master iPad that allows either the whole audio system or specific areas of it to be combined, or inputs to be routed between spaces, allowing it to be truly flexible.
Internally, all areas are served by ceiling speakers that have been worked in with the interior design and ceiling layout to blend with the decor. All equipment wires back to one central rack in the basement which delivers the sound to all areas, and allows CGA to remotely support and manage all the sound hardware.
Music input was from the client’s preferred music provider, which CGA facilitated.
Response
Nicola James, General Manager Miiro Hotels commented “As a very audio conscious brand, we have insisted on the highest quality system for this project. It is important that we have a very flexible control system to ensure that we can cater for all our guests’ needs, whatever the occasion or time of day, and CGA has delivered all of this for us.”
